Your COVID story

Got my second dose tomorrow at around 11 am so looking forward to getting that over and done with. I wasn't affected that much when I received the first one so hopefully, this is the same.

Just thought I'd give a little Covid update from me.

I had covid months ago, in May. I had my vaccine in August. And just recently (maybe the past 2 weeks) my sense of smell and taste has altered. More specifically I keep smelling and tasting the same smell everywhere I go, and I know it's wrong.. and it is a revolting smell. It doesn't matter what the source is, many things have the same smell. e.g. Popcorn, full-fat Coke, Chinese food, various kinds of shampoo and shower gel, deodorant even (ew) my own sweat smell. :p

But yeah a lot of things I used to enjoy are now ruined. Which sucks. I would describe the taste/smell as horribly burned toast, mixed with what licking an ash-y coal might be like.

I hope it goes away. It's just weird that I never had this problem when I was actively contagious and unwell, as well as when I first had the vaccine... the delay is odd.

Yikes! That sounds like a horrible thing to have to keep smelling. Agreed, hopefully it goes away quickly!

Outside of getting sick from the first wave that hit before the actual covid I got nothing too much to complain about, other than stuck working retail that got 10 times worse working.

I had my booster (3rd jab) yesterday.. I've already been feeling pretty ropey with a bit of man flu over the last week, and I've stayed in my pajamas all day today 🤒

To my surprise I've continued to test negative each time I'm unwell so far though. A few of my friends have had positive tests recently, as well as my Dad, my partner's Dad, and her Brother and his family. Thankfully all have only had mild symptoms and appear to be recovered other than some having a never-ending cough.

I'm no longer working in schools after a job change in August with a different Academy chain didn't really work out.. Since November I've been doing casework for the Civil Service via an agency which I've found to be quite enjoyable; different scenarios have kept cropping up and it's very rare that I have a boring day! I'm hopeful of being made permanent, but otherwise I'm at least in a job that I don't hate for the rest of the year.

I had my booster jab last Sunday and surprisingly, it didn't affect me that much. Had a bit of a sore arm for a day but other than that, I was fine. Pretty happy about that because both my parents didn't feel too great after they got theirs.

So.. I've tested positive this morning.. 🤧

It was somewhat expected, since my daughter tested positive on Thursday - but it kinda makes you question the vaccines!

Thankfully my symptoms at the moment largely consist of standard cold symptoms and fatigue.

Hmm I am not so sure the vaccines actually protect you from getting the virus. I think it's more like they make the symptoms milder?

I know so many people who have had it after being fully vaccinated, but also that the symptoms were neither here nor there. So hopefully you won't be feeling too bad!

Edit; now you're trapped you can double time work on this site and streams! 😂😂

Yeah, the vaccines definitely don't stop it, but they do make it far more tolerable than the full monty.

It's been a rough week, but I'm thankfully testing negative again and generally feeling better. I still get bouts of fatigue though.. 🥱

I had COVID again about a month ago, and as it turns out almost a year to the day that I had it last year!

I started testing negative again after about 7 days, but I'm still feeling the effects of it with tiredness.. I'm so low on energy, it's untrue :hungover:
