This one's for fans of dark and gritty horror movies. Rob Zombie's Firefly trilogy — comprised of House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and 3 From Hell — is getting a new 4K collection. It brings all three movies together in 4K, Blu-ray, and digital (with Movies Anywhere compatibility), and it includes a bunch of physical collectibles and bonus features.
The collection looks great and is up for preorder now (see it at Amazon). It costs $79.99 and comes out on October 13, giving you plenty of time to watch the movies before Halloween.
Rob Zombie's Firefly Trilogy
All told, you get 8 discs in this collection, including House of 1000 Corpses in 4K for the first time. In addition to the movies, you also get art cards, a poster, and a photography book curated by Mr. Zombie himself. The art is by Vance Kelly, who makes some truly awesome artwork. Plenty of bonus features and behind-the-scenes material are also on the discs, including the documentaries 30 Days in Hell: The Making of The Devilʼs Rejects and To Hell and Back: The Making of 3 from Hell.
As for the movies themselves, they may be an acquired taste. House of 1000 Corpses is about a group of teenagers, including Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute himself) who get kidnapped and tortured by a family of grotesque psychopaths. Walton Goggins is also in it, and he's great in everything. IGN gave it a harsh review, awarding it a 1/5 on our old scale.
The movie was filmed in 2000, but Universal shelved it for years, thinking it would get an NC-17 rating. It finally came out in 2003. I saw it on DVD and I didn't care for it. It's dark and grimy and full of bad vibes and onscreen horrors. Now I think I just wasn't in the right mindset. If you go in expecting an unpleasant time, you'll probably enjoy it more.
It was heavy metal musician Rob Zombie's directorial debut, and he made it as a throwback to the shock horror films of the 1970s. The sequel, 2005's Devil's Rejects, fared much better in its IGN review. The third and final installment, 3 From Hell, came out in 2019.

In fact, Amazon is releasing a 5-Film '80s Horror Movie Steelbook Collection that includes Nightmare on Elm Street, Poltergeist, The Lost Boys, The Shining, and Little Shop of Horrors. The "torture porn" Hostel series is getting a 20th anniversary collection, and for something new you can pick up Evil Dead Burn when it hits home video.
