Perhaps many people don't have the money to upgrade their consoles to the latest generation. It can be a very costly hobby these days, not just for the console itself, but the games. PS5 games go for £50, £60, sometimes over £70, that's insane. PS4 games are less than half that price. And graphics aren't everything, I frequently play old games because the gameplay is good. The quality of the graphics in games is largely irrelevant for me personally, always has been.
The problem is some people call THIS.... We're talking about a DREAM game.
I had someone in my comments section call
THIS....
....
ugly. I'm like... "Are you serious...?" And then followed by "Which one is it, then!?" Graphics or goddamn gameplay... Like, are people fucking stupid or something?
I do think that software has now caught up in a way that makes more powerful hardware less important.
And I said that. That's kinda what I said in the video. The generation of "generational leaps" is actually gone. You could make the argument that this started around PS3 > PS4, but the thing is, a lot of people don't understand that these generational leaps are getting smaller now. PS4 broke this already. But the issue from here, is that as these consoles get older, developers get better at doing a few things. Like, back in the GTA[III] days, texture streaming used to be polygons and textures being "manifested" in your worldview as you drive around in lets say... Vice City. You drive around, but you don't realize that the polygons and textures are actually streaming in the background as you roam the world. Today, Call of Duty took this idea and turned it on its head. I even talked about this in one of the videos I did...
So, in Modern Warfare 2019, you will realize that when you go in to any server... your worldview is dictated by an algorithm based on connection. This is confusing TODAY, because the idea of SBMM is different from what we know today as SBMM, which is basically EOMM. I also did a video on this:
E.g. Streaming (cloud services, deferred rendering etc), AI generation (DLSS etc). You can now have games that run on weak hardware and still look really good. I play 90% of my new PC games with DLSS mode on and while there is a difference, it is negligible.
In the future I reckon there won't be consoles. It'll just be something that is delivered over the air. Or at least to some small box that deals with the data.. no big CPU and GPU needed.
Nope. I disagree on a lot of this. They couldn't even get Crackdown 3 the way it was envisioned. Microsoft is selling a garbage dream. All of their bullshit is garbage dreams. I mean... cities with destruction...?? HAHAHAHAA... They couldn't get it right with Battlefield! What the fuck do you think is gonna happen when they try the same shit on this generation consoles? Battlefield 2042 couldn't even get
THIS right!
Next Generation.
Next Gen destruction.
I swear... none of y'all gonna discern anything on the next Battlefield, you'll just drool. Thing is, Vince Zampella is the guy behind Battlefield today. I welcome it, but watch the gameplay before you start going googoo gaga over it.
