I wanted to share my thoughts on this video and why I agree.

Here is the video:

Basically, Skyward Sword will look better, run at 60FPS and have improved controls, games like Medievil get a full on remake on the PS4 and get released at a cheaper price, $40... Nintendo want us to pay $60 for Skyward Sword and $80 for the special edition Joycons.

Granted the Skyward Sword Wii controls are far from perfect, but they didn't render the game unplayable, I did spend a fair bit of time fiddling with the nunchuck and Wiimote during my playthroughs of the game. But hey, the Joycons also have drift issues so I'm not gonna totally dump on the Wii controls here. The reason I wanted to bring that up is because glitchy controls aside, Nintendo seem to be heading in a good direction with the controls for the game, but I still don't think the price they are charging is worth the price of entry.

BoTW is the first Zelda game to give you that full open world sandbox experience in 3D. Previous Zelda games like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess had places to explore, but had nothing on the vastness of BoTW, when this came out and people played it, they were so impressed with it and some of these people have never played a Zelda game before, but they got into BoTW because of it's sheer massive sandbox open world experience that it offered, they play it for the sheer exploration it offers, they get value for money from this experience. I know people who's first Zelda game was BoTW.

Skyward Sword won't offer people the experience that got them into Zelda, it isn't BoTW, it isn't worth full price at this point.

Skyward Sword is my favourite Zelda game, I love the art style and fell in love with the games storyline, the music, the whole world of Skyward Sword. I even put up with glitchy controls for my love of this game, but improved controls, upscaled graphics and improved frame rate isn't gonna convince me to buy the game for full price. I paid £49.99 for this in 2011 and it was the limited edition that came with the Golden Wiimote and special soundtrack. The game itself on Wii alone you could pick up at launch for £29.99!

Switch games here tend to be almost the same price in dollars, Nintendo have forever failed to take into consideration a fair exchange rate when bringing products over to the UK, something Microsoft and Sony do very fairly for consumers here. When the PS3 was $599.99 in the US, it was £425 here. When the Wii U was $349.99 in the US, it was £350 in the UK. Absolute Shambles.

Nintendo Switch games brand new tend to go for £49.99, but I have seen them at £54.99 and sometimes even £59.99. But Tesco here in the UK are doing some deals on newer Switch games at the moment, still all averages £40-45 for newer titles and still seeing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for £40, not much to get excited about but, I digress.

Point is, in 2011 you could get Skyward Sword so much cheaper than we see new releases for the Switch now, Switch games sell well so Nintendo don't need to lower the price, but I don't think they'll sell as many copies of Skyward Sword because it's not the same experience as BoTW, it's the pre cursor to improvements we would see in BoTW, such as the stamina system. But the game itself, whilst being my favourite, people who picked up the Switch and played Zelda for the first time are going to get a game I don't think they'll care for as much as BoTW. Skyward Sword keeps Skyloft as a permanent hub that you need to revisit, not as annoyingly in the same way as the Ocean King Temple in Phantom Hourglass but still, I don't think Nintendo can expect people to pay the same price for Skyward Sword as what they paid for BoTW.

The Joycons are expensive anyway, controllers are getting more advanced and the prices of them are almost matching 50% of the consoles value at this point, so I'm not gonna complaint that Nintendo aren't giving us a reasonable deal on a limited edition bundle like I got with my Golden Wiimote, not when this time round I'm sure players will get a better control experience, I just don't think players should have to pay full price for it, considering most of them will probably be people that paid Nintendo last time for Skyward Sword with glitchy controls.

Give us a break Nintendo, this title should be no more than £19.99 like a Nintendo Select title in my opinion, doesn't involve much effort on your part to do the improvements you've made, you are basically patching the glitchy controls and updating FPS and Resolution for the Switch. Nintendo, you're not remaking an entire game, you're merely patching it for a newer generation. Do the decent thing and lower the price.

P.S
The fact that Skyward Sword is my favourite Zelda Title and BoTW is my least favourite should show Nintendo that gamers who bought BoTW for full price won't pay full price for Skyward Sword and people like me will not pick up the game or another Switch for the game. (I sold my Switch because I never used it)
I love the Nintendo are giving Skyward Sword some love on Switch, but they need to give it more love and open it up to more gamers at a lower price, lower the price is the more people will pick it up and actually get to experience Skyward Sword. It's an amazing Zelda game but I think the price will put off newcomers to the game.

Itd be nice to play Skyward Sword without the Wii controls, I hope they will retain the option to hold the JoyCon in the air though! I would miss that.

Not my favourite Zelda game by any stretch, but I enjoyed my time with it.

In terms of the pricing, Nintendo know that they can get away with it because it's a Zelda game. Any of their first-party stuff never really gets discounted. Even that Super Mario triple pack thing they released recently was expensive for what it was.. People have done remastering work better than they did for free for years... It's just one of those things. Nintendo have always been in their little bubble separate from the rest and will always do things in their own weird way!

Sadly this just isn't something I see changing anytime soon... I've just seen Nintendo as the Apple of the gaming industry for a good while now, and since they know people are just gonna buy their products anyway there's no reason for them to alter their strategy.
I think, just from a moral standpoint, there's lots of things that could change within the company, with their pricing just being one of the things they could change.

Aye yeah morally they could make them cheaper but I guess they don't need to when the products are selling like hot cakes.

After this rant I've thought in hindsight and overall I'm happy Skyward Sword is getting love again, it's still hands down my favourite Zelda outing for me personally.

I hope people find the same love I have for the game and if they do then they'll get their moneys worth out of the $60 price tag. :)

I will admit the joy cons are overpriced. However I do not think the console itself is overpriced in the least bit. To be honest, the console itself is quite a good price set. I will say though I disagree with the switch light concept. And how it can be lower priced but not be able to hook up to your TV. The fact that it can't hook up to your TV seems to be a waste of money.
