XenForo

Yeah, it's crazy how expensive IPB is becoming. XenForo is good at the moment but I would be worried that they will start taking inspiration from IPB.

IPB's backlash has been pretty big and Xenforo people seem humble, I'm sure they will keep the right choices in mind, or I'll go back to Jcink service :p

It would be interesting to see what initial ideas they have for 3.0.0 - presuming that those preliminary discussions have at least taken place (I would expect so)..

I think it'll still be some way off though, it feels like there's still bits that can be done to improve 2.x.x despite it being already pretty awesome.

Yeah I still think we're a few years away from 3.0, I'm not even sure what they could really do at this point to warrant the major version bump.
All I ask for in the near future is WebP support!

I've always been an SMF guy, could never afford a vB license back in the day when that was the go-to option. But over the lockdown I had a good bit of cash lying around and really wanted to splash out on a nice piece of software, so I went with Xen knowing a lot of the vB folk are responsible for it.
I've been delighted with it so far! I was pretty easily able to transfer all my features and stuff to Xen. I didn't have as much trouble getting used to the Template system than I thought I would, since with SMF I'd just open the source files in an editor and upload them with FTP instead.

My only problem so far is I'm struggling to understand Xen's addon system. SMF used what I assume is an older version of PHP that is way easier to understand, and you can kind of just drop SQL queries wherever you want. Xen isn't so simple, but I've also only had it for maybe 2 months, so hopefully it's simply a matter of time before I get a grasp on that area.
Look at you now bro, a complete developer beast! So glad you decided to make the move over to xenforo.

Lmfao yeah it wasn't too long after I made that post that the penny dropped and I got the hang of it. Still lots to learn but one day I'll be one of the top dogs, mark my words >:D
And same, Xen's such a quality piece of software, even @PlatinumChaosX who was a little bit unsure about moving from SMF at first ended up falling in love with it.
