The concept of The Hive was probably something I loved most about the first Resident Evil film.. It's absence in Apocalypse and Extinction may go some way to explaining why I didn't particularly like them as much..

I've read that Alice revisits The Hive in The Final Chapter, which is why I've bought the complete collection to try watching them again.

I was initially writing this post to discuss whether or not The Hive would work within a Resident Evil game, but come to think about it - it's not really needed. The labs in Resident Evil 2 very much had a similar feel to them already - so now I wonder whether this is where the inspiration of The Hive possibly came from? Especially given the link with the train..

I think the Hive was mainly a combination of the Mansion's underground lab from RE1 and also the one in RE2 for the train line.

I loved that the laser grid sequence from the film was used in one of the later rooms in RE4 - a case of where the movie influences the game!

Interesting video to watch. I would love to sometime see the Resident Evil movie. I never heard of it until now. The preview made it seem quite intriguing. The Hive that I know about is from Gears of War. I haven't played any Resident Evil games so that's the only one I'm familiar with.

I'd definitely recommend giving the first one a watch.. 👍

I haven't reached that section yet.. I did start trying to play through RE4 earlier in the year, but in typical Andy fashion I haven't revisited it for such a length of time that I'd probably have to start over.. Again.. For the dozenth time 🤣
