Many digital news outlets are reporting that recent changes in the background to the Steam store listing for Resident Evil 5 would indicate that Capcom are next giving this instalment the remake treatment, apparently overlooking Resident Evil: Code Veronica once again.
The following screengrab was captured by the user @PRE_Alarabiya on X (Twitter) of Arab fansite Resident Evil Philosophers. Unfortunately when trying to verify these changes, I could not locate the relevant entries on SteamDB myself. It is also being reported that a further change was made to the game name, with the original release year added in brackets. An action that would strongly indicate a remake, and follow in the footsteps of the recent releases.
This could all be innocent and simply be internal logistical changes, though it poses the question "why?" - the game was first released in 2009 afterall. It would also certainly tie-in with the infamous Dusk Golem's recent reveal that he is aware of no less than five Resident Evil games currently in development. We'll certainly be staying tuned for further developments.
