I recently discovered that the Resident Evil novels received a reprint in 2012, and had their covers changed.. Also of note is that "Zero Hour" has changed from Book #0 to Volume VII, most likely because the number 0 doesn't have it's own roman numeral.

I think I prefer the originals - what do you think?

So uh.. does Zero Hour (Volume VII) take place before The Umbrella Conspiracy (Volume I)? I've not read any of the novels but I'm assuming it does.

I mean, if you're buying them as a complete collection I guess it looks better that they all have consistency (looks like the same background on all books, just a different colour used) and I'm also guessing over the years the type of print and overall quality of the books differed in the original releases.

So yeah.. I reckon if you're just buying them now as a set.. these are probably a better buy. But if you've been reading and collecting them as they were released, you're going to prefer the originals.

My opinion... Originals look better. The artwork is one of the key selling points on the books - kinda looks less interesting if they're all the same.

I haven't read them myself yet.. I'm admittedly not much of a reader, I thought with them being Resident Evil I might be persuaded - but I bought them and they've just sat on the shelf for over a decade 🤣

I did do a bit of research into which order they should be read through, and despite Zero Hour being released after the rest it is recommended to read that first.

I'm gunna read these, I cant believe I haven't already tbf.
Have you started them yet? I think I'm gonna try and start Zero Hour over the weekend..
