Courtesy of Netflix, BioShock is most likely to be the next game in line to receive a film adaptation. This news follows the recent release of Uncharted, which is receiving expectedly average reviews so far as seems to be customary for such adaptations (6.8 on IMDb and 41% on Rotten Tomatoes respectively)..
No specifics have been yet been disclosed, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick did make the following statement to IGN:
Netflix is among the best and most forward-thinking storytellers in all of entertainment today. We are thrilled that they share our vision and commitment to the BioShock franchise, which is beloved by millions of fans around the world.
The next instalment in the game world of the franchise was also recently acknowledged by 2K, and was further confirmed by the same statement from Zelnick. Early leaks suggest that BioShock 4 could be set in 1960s Antarctica, meanwhile other rumours indicate that its development has hit problems with up to 40 staff members, including leads, having allegedly been let go or left of their own accord.
It is not anticipated that the announcement of the film adaptation, and the alleged staff member culling behind the upcoming game's instalment, would be linked.
