We've always had a thread like this, I reckon as we've gotten older we've had hobbies which have stuck with us the longest.

Playing games doesn't count - that's a given if you're here!

So I like listening to podcasts and audiobooks (specifically non fiction or autobiographical stuff read by the author) - I have a long commute to and from work, and sometimes music does my head in.. so some decent speech content helps pass the time sometimes!

I also play electric guitar.. I'd say I'm competent. I own few guitars and amplifiers... For those interested, I own a Gibson Explorer, Chapman ML2, and a Ibanez Black Night. My amplifiers .. I've got 3 Blackstar ones (love the sound), and a Line 6 Spider IV (nasty sound). They're small bedroom amps, I tend to play with headphones on as even on the lowest volume they pack a punch. I took this hobby a number of years ago when I came out of a bad relationship and just thought.. I'm just gonna do it. I'd always avoided trying to play as I never thought I'd be able to learn... But hey. I did!

I also like collecting retro tech (mainly Gamecube stuff at the moment) I think it's good to sorta keep some of this stuff alive even though it doesn't have a day to day purpose anymore. I have an old iPod Mini which I still use occasionally, and I also own a full Apple Power Mac G4 Cube setup. I've also got 2 Gamecubes - one is original, the other is mega modified with hdmi output, sd card support, fully modchipped, with a Swiss boot disc, and it has a custom paint job and leds. I have a Gameboy Player for it as well. And over 100 games... some of them are kinda rare. I would not like to guess how much money I've thrown at this hobby over the years... but I enjoy it.

I think that's it for my main hobbies. I used to be interested in web design and graphics — but yanno life kinda got in the way for a while and when I returned to it.. everything changed. I still do the odd thing here and there as favours for people, but I don't think about it too much these days.

Anyway, what about you guys?

My hobbies haven't really changed too much over the years.. 😅

Web design, coding, and maintenance is pretty much a given - but it's a hobby that I've fallen in and out of love with. Practically all of my HTML, XML, and PHP was self-taught, although I did further develop my PHP skills as well as picking up CSS and a bit of jQuery as part of my University degree. I'd still describe my PHP competence as "basic", however.

I enjoy playing board and card games, Texas Hold'em is a particular favourite. I don't play online for money as it's all too tempting to chase those big wins, but do play with friends occasionally in a tournament for a mere £10. It doesn't break the bank, and if you win you feel like you've won something tangible.

Snooker and Pool are another hobby, though I'm a much better Pool player than I am Snooker but I don't find Pool interesting to watch on TV. I'd love to have the time and patience to practice and get to a better standard in my Snooker, but both are in short supply!

Similar to yourself, technology is particularly of interest. I enjoy trying to find gadgets and software to make life that little bit easier, more efficient, or just something to have a bit of a play with again that would otherwise be collecting dust. My Wii is soft-modded to play various roms, while the emulation often isn't 100% it's very playable. I recently bought an original PlayStation and got a PS-IO installed which allows me to load games via an SD card, again it isn't 100% but it's getting very close with development.

I got quite into my running and doing parkruns once upon a time. I did a few half-marathons and 10k runs for charity, my quickest half completion was about 2:35 which isn't too shabby. I've done 20+ parkruns and was just starting to get back into them before COVID hit and they had to suspend them. I would love to run the London marathon before I get too much older, so that's probably going to be my aim for the upcoming years.

Computers/games are the main ones for me, like most people here I assume. I love Linux and use it as a daily-driver. For languages I know HTML/CSS, some PHP & SQL, and some Bash.

Outside of computers I used to be really big into DJ'ing, and I would say I still am I've just been very lazy with it lately. Still always on the hunt for new tunes. My favorite genres to mix are deep/garage/funky/tech house & tech/psy/progressive trance.

I love walking and hiking. I live in a hilly area so the trails can be fun to hike on!

I like to do anything that deals with arts and crafts and right now I'm making a ton of craft projects to give away as Christmas gifts for family and posting them on my new forum Crafter Craze. That is also my new hobby...new forum.

About 15 years ago I learned how to play the flute and from time to time I'll pick it up, especially around Christmas to play some music.

I like the sound of the forum - if it is okay with @Oblivion Knight - I would like to see that. Feel free to PM me the URL.

My hobbies haven't changed drastically since growing up. I still enjoy fishing, walking my Dog(s), gaming, creating websites & browsing on social media platforms. It's hard to make enough time to enjoy my interests with Adult responsibilities.

My hobbies other than gaming includes sport, as it provides a real-life workout! :p Sadly my opportunities to play are severely limited right now but I love racquet sports such as tennis, table tennis and badminton. I should be playing again soon hopefully which makes me happy. But as for other hobbies I like ones that will relax me such as reading and watching Netflix.

Managing an online community, spending time with family and friends, and Fishing. I also enjoy writing articles, proofreading and writing on forums through freelance opportunities. I have many other interests although I've only mentioned a handful.

I enjoy designing web templates once in a while for fun based off of html and css. I use advanced IDE called PHPstorm that seems to be one of the best paid html/css editing softwares. I enjoy that whenever I am giving it a try. Recently I've started using Visual Studio Code which seems to be the best text editor and even better then Sublime Text. One hobby I need to get back into is making add-ons for Xenforo 2 which I have drifted away from in recent years. I am still new to it all and don't have much experience but even giving it a try was something I enjoyed. I haven't been fishing in years but would be fun to try again. I love to play call of duty games and also Halo games is something I'm really into.

I hear PHPstorm is pretty ideal for writing code for XenForo.. I just wasn't sure about the investment.

Does it make the packaging of addons any easier? I don't really get the automated process, and currently do things by hand.. Which probably explains why I haven't bothered releasing anything publicly of late 😅

Fishing = relaxation.

I love hillwalking and being out in the country, recently just bagged my 14th munro (mountains in Scotland over 3,000 feet, just another 268 to conquer) and keeping fit in general (I try different forms of exercise away from my job).

My online community is something that I probably spend waaaay too much time on. I've no real computer training but I've picked up enough basic CSS and PHP skills over the years to cobble something together along with a lot of trial and error.

Other than that, my dog, audiobooks and the "given" computer games command the largest amounts of my free time.

Creating and running sites has always been a bit of a hobby for me. Over the past few years, I have created several different websites, blogs, and forums that have had a mixed level of success. I'm currently running a general discussion forum which is doing somewhat well.
